Obituary

Elizabeth “Betty” Naughton, aged 90, of Levittown, NY, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on April 18, 1934 in Newfoundland, Canada, to Hannah and Gerald Carey. Betty was a beloved sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was known for her kind, loving, and generous spirit, and her wit and wisdom were the backbone of her family. She dedicated her life to her loved ones, offering support, guidance, and a warm smile to everyone who crossed her path. Her home was always a welcoming haven, filled with the sounds of music and laughter, and a sense of comfort that only she could provide. She was married to Richard Naughton, with whom she shared 69 years of marriage. Together, they traveled the world, raised a loving family, and shared a joyful kitchen-floor dance each day they were together. Their love story was one of unwavering devotion, partnership, and cherished moments that will be fondly remembered by all who knew them. Betty is survived by her devoted husband, Richard; her sister Carmelita Templeman; her children, Richard Naughton, Gerard Naughton, and Pamela Naughton Dempsey (Michael Dempsey); her grandchildren, Erin Dempsey Heuwetter (David Heuwetter), and Shannon Dempsey; and great-grandchildren, Sebastian and Declan Heuwetter. She will be deeply missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who were like family to her. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Margaret “Vicki” Naughton, and her brothers, Gerald, Jim (Bev-deceased), and Justin (Judy) Carey. Betty touched the lives of everyone who knew her with her warmth, humor, and nurturing spirit. She had a way of making everyone feel special, and her memory will live on in our hearts forever.
